Couple of recordings…..

Another easy blog for me today……..

Some of my lovely playmates from Dementia Diaries had been given an extract from my book and record their views. You can listen and find them here:

And here’s my response to their kindness…..

I was also at Magic Radio in London recently and you can hear the recording with Emma on this link:

About wendy7713

On the 31st July 2014 I was diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia. I may not have much of a short term memory anymore but that date is one I’ll never forget. I’m 58 years young, live happily alone in Yorkshire, have 2 daughters and I’m currently still in full time employment in the NHS. However, I’m now in the process of taking early retirement to give me a chance of enjoying life while I’m still me. I've started this blog to allow me, in the first instance, to write all my thoughts before they’re lost. If anyone chooses to follow my ramblings it will serve as a way of raising awareness on the lack of research into Alzheimer's. It will hopefully convey the helplessness of those diagnosed with dementia, as there is no cure – the end is inevitable. However, I’m also hoping I can convey that, although we've been diagnosed, people like me still have a substantial contribution to make; we still have a sense of humour; we sill have feelings. I’m hoping to show the reality of trying to cope on a day to day basis with the ever-changing environment that dementia throws at those diagnosed with the condition. What I want is not sympathy. What I want is simply to raise awareness.

      1. I’ve taken the liberty of creating a page summarising your blogs for the year 2019. Totally up to you if you or anyone else that might help with the website wants to create something like it. Obviously It would require someone to plough through the older blogs to create pages for earlier years. As I’ve said, it’s your choice, you don’t have to feel under any obligation. The test page I’ve created can be found here :

  1. Thank you for sharing these recordings, Wendy! It was interesting to hear all the voices speaking about living with dementia from their own experience of it. I appreciate the opportunity to listen.

  2. Just listened to your interview with Emma at magic, you are such an inspiration and without knowing what your diagnoses was you would never know you had early onset dementia. I have passed your book on to a friend (who has been diagnosed with dementia) and her family so that they know there is still a life after the diagnosis.
    Thank you.
